Tense WWII drama in which a group of American soldiers arrange a mutually-beneficial truce with a German platoon only for circumstances to overtake them. Led by Will Knott (Ethan Hawke), a group of young American soldiers, including Avakian (Kevin Dillon) and ‘Mother’ (Gary Sinise), are sent into the French countryside with the directive to keep an eye out for enemy activity. When they do stumble upon Germans, however, they behave like anything other than enemies – waving a white flag and begging to be taken prisoner to avoid fighting in their homeland’s final offensive. As the rival soldiers spend Christmas together at a remote farmhouse a genuine bond develops between them, but the divisions of their countries may yet undermine their friendship…
